Job Purpose

The Revit Draughtsperson will be responsible for the design, drafting, and coordination of fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. The successful candidate will create accurate BIM models and detailed installation drawings using Revit while ensuring compliance with fire protection standards, project specifications, and coordination requirements.

The role requires strong technical drafting skills, experience in fire protection systems, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, site teams, and other building service disciplines.

POSITION INFO

Key Responsibilities Revit Modelling & Design Develop and maintain detailed Revit models for fire sprinkler and fire protection systems. Prepare coordinated 3D BIM models for sprinkler pipework, valves, pumps, tanks, and associated systems. Produce installation drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, spool drawings, and as-built drawings. Ensure all drawings and models are accurate, practical, and aligned with project requirements. Coordination & Project Support Coordinate fire protection services with architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing disciplines. Attend coordination and project meetings when required. Identify and resolve design clashes within BIM models. Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and installation teams to support project execution. Technical Responsibilities Interpret engineering drawings, tender documents, and project specifications. Assist with material take-offs and quantity calculations from Revit models. Support hydraulic design and system layout requirements where necessary. Ensure compliance with relevant SANS standards, fire protection regulations, and client specifications. Documentation & Quality Control Maintain drawing registers, revision controls, and project documentation. Ensure all drawings are issued according to company procedures and project deadlines. Update models and drawings according to site changes and approved revisions. Assist with technical submissions and approval documentation. Site & Operational Support Conduct site visits and site measurements when required. Assist site teams with technical queries and drawing interpretation. Support commissioning and handover documentation processes. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric. Relevant Draughting, BIM, or CAD qualification. Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Revit Draughtsperson within the fire protection, mechanical, or construction industry. Advanced proficiency in Revit (non-negotiable). Strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems and fire protection layouts. Experience producing coordinated BIM models and construction drawings. Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Valid driver's license advantageous. Preferred Requirements Experience within the fire sprinkler installation industry highly advantageous. Knowledge of SANS fire protection standards and regulations. Experience with Navisworks and clash detection advantageous. Understanding of hydraulic calculations and sprinkler system design advantageous. Skills & Competencies Strong BIM and technical drafting skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
