Industrial Engineer - Plant Layout And Facilities Design

About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to focus on plant layout and facilities design in their bustling facility located in Randburg, Gauteng.
This is a critical on-site role responsible for optimizing the physical arrangement of production lines, machinery, and workspaces to maximize efficiency, safety, and material flow.
The ideal candidate will possess strong CAD skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and ergonomic principles.
You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of facility design projects, from conceptualization and planning through to implementation and validation.
This position requires a dedicated individual committed to enhancing the operational infrastructure of our client's Randburg, Gauteng site.
Key Responsibilities Design and redesign plant layouts to optimize material flow, reduce travel distances, and improve overall productivity.
Develop detailed 2 D and 3 D models of facility layouts using CAD software.
Collaborate with production teams, maintenance, and safety officers to gather requirements and ensure designs meet operational needs and safety standards.
Analyze space utilization and identify opportunities for consolidation or expansion.
Plan the installation of new equipment and production lines, ensuring efficient integration into existing facilities.
Develop simulation models to test layout efficiency and identify potential bottlenecks before implementation.
Conduct site surveys and measurements to ensure accuracy of design plans.
Prepare layout drawings, specifications, and reports for management review and approval.
Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards in Randburg, Gauteng.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a strong focus on plant layout, facilities design, and/or ergonomics.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Auto CAD, Solid Works) for layout design.
Experience with simulation software for modeling material flow and process efficiency.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material handling systems, and workplace safety principles.
Excellent spatial reasoning and visualization skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work closely with diverse teams.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
