The position requires a proactive and analytical approach to problem-solving in a demanding operational environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze mining operations to identify areas for improvement in productivity, cost, and safety.Develop and implement strategies to optimize mining methods, equipment utilization, and production sequencing.Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed operational changes.Oversee the planning and execution of short-term and medium-term mine plans.Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.Work closely with mine operations personnel to implement best practices and provide technical support.Utilize mine planning software to model and evaluate different operational scenarios.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational performance.Mentor junior mining engineers and contribute to team development.Assist in the development and management of the operational budget.RequirementsA Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.A minimum of 7 years of experience in mining operations, with a strong focus on operational improvement and efficiency.Proven experience in both open-pit and/or underground mining environments.Proficiency in mine planning and design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
Strong understanding of mining equipment, production processes, and scheduling.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate.Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.Valid driver's license and commitment to working on-site in **Randburg, Gauteng**.
