SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced

Technical Sales Representative with a strong background in the mining industry to drive sales of flameproof and explosion-protected electrical equipment into hazardous mining environments. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded sales professional who understands underground mining operations and can build lasting relationships with mining houses, EPCM firms, distributors, and contractors.

The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to identify new business opportunities, manage key customer accounts, and provide tailored solutions that meet mine safety and operational requirements.

POSITION INFO

We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Representative with a strong background in the mining industry to drive sales of flameproof and explosion-protected electrical equipment into hazardous mining environments. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded sales professional who understands underground mining operations and can build lasting relationships with mining houses, EPCM firms, distributors, and contractors. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to identify new business opportunities, manage key customer accounts, and provide tailored solutions that meet mine safety and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets. Identify and secure new business opportunities within the mining sector. Manage and grow relationships with mining houses, contractors, OEMs, and consulting engineers. Promote and sell flameproof and explosion-protected electrical products and solutions. Conduct technical product presentations and provide application support to customers. Prepare quotations, proposals, and tender submissions. Negotiate contracts and close sales opportunities. Provide accurate sales forecasts and maintain CRM records. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and customer support teams to ensure successful project delivery. Represent the company at industry exhibitions, technical forums, and customer meetings. Travel regularly to mining operations across South Africa. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field is advantageous. Minimum 5 years' technical sales experience within the mining industry. Proven experience selling into hazardous gas mines or working with flameproof (Ex-rated) electrical equipment . Strong understanding of underground mining operations and safety standards. Knowledge of explosion-protection principles and flameproof equipment applications. Experience with tendering, quotations, and contract negotiations. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively. Preferred Experience Experience with explosion-protected motors, switchgear, lighting, communication systems, instrumentation, or mining electrical products. Established network within South African mining houses. Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and mining compliance requirements. Experience working with EPCM companies and mining contractors.
