You'll be based at a retirement village in Pretoria West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.
The work, day to day
- Check fire extinguishers, emergency lights and escape routes on a monthly checklist
- Get quotes from outside contractors and let them in for bigger jobs
- Keep the maintenance store tidy and track stock used
- Change globes, fluorescent tubes and plug covers (no DB work)
- Hang doors, fit locks and adjust sliding door rails
What you need
- Available for the occasional weekend emergency
- Your own tools are a plus, but safe tool handling is a must
- At least 2 years of general building maintenance work you can back up with references
- Grade 10 at least; matric is a plus
Helpful, not essential
- Basic first aid certificate
- Experience with a work order system on a phone app
