This diamond mine processing plant near Brits needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.
You'll be based at a diamond mine processing plant in Brits. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.
What your day looks like
- Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
- Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
- Order spares and track them through the engineering store
- Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
- Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Must-haves
- Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
- Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
- At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
- Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
- N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
What's in it for you
- Study assistance for engineering qualifications
- Housing support in the mining town
- Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
- Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
How to apply for this job
- Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
- Keep copies of these ready to send: employment references showing artisan work, trade test certificate and N-certificates plus certified ID copy.
- Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
- Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 10 working days.
Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Brits.
Applying is free. Nobody from How2Apply will ever ask you to pay for anything to get this job.
How to stand out
- Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
- Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
