Beef Farm Manager

SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Beef Farm Manager  to oversee the strategic and day-to-day operations of 7 farms  running 2,000 cattle . This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in large-scale beef production, veld management, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Farm Operations:
- Manage daily operations across 7 farms, ensuring optimal cattle health, breeding, and growth performance.
- Implement veld management strategies  to maintain pasture quality and sustainability.
- Cattle Management:
- Oversee herd health, vaccination programs, and breeding schedules.
- Monitor feed programs, grazing rotations, and supplementary feeding during droughts.
- Team Leadership:
- Train, supervise, and motivate farm staff (e.g., herdsmen, technicians).
- Schedule shifts and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Financial & Administrative Duties:
- Manage budgets, procurement, and resource allocation.
- Maintain accurate records (e.g., calving rates, feed costs, veterinary expenses).
- Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to animal welfare standards , biosecurity measures, and environmental regulations.
- Experience:
- 5+ years  in beef farm management, preferably with herds of 500+ cattle .
- Proven track record in veld management  and drought mitigation.
- Skills:
- Exceptional time management  and organizational skills .
- Ability to troubleshoot issues (e.g., disease outbreaks, feed shortages).
- Proficiency in farm management software (advantageous).
- Language:
- Xhosa proficiency  (strongly preferred) for effective communication with local teams.
