Hard outdoor work on a school building project in Benoni, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.
This post is Benoni-based, with most of your time spent at a school building project.
What you'll actually do
- Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
- Clear rubble and load it into skips
- Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
- Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
- Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
What you need
- Prepared to travel between sites in the area
- Grade 8 or higher
- Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
- Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
- Willing to start early, often at 06:30
- A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Nice if you have
- Previous site work you can show with a reference
- Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
- Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
What you get
- Paid weekly or fortnightly
- Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
- Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
- Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
Applying, step by step
- Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
- Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: any safety or scaffolding certificates plus certified ID copy and proof of address in the area.
- Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
- If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Tips to get shortlisted
