Software Engineer: Back-End II

About the team

• The Collections and Recoveries division is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring and mitigating risk across all recoveries-related activities.The team uses innovation and technology to build a world-class collections capability  one that serves millions of South Africans at a pace and scale few environments can match. Every system you build feeds directly into that mission.

What you'll do

• Translate business and technical requirements into back-end solutions that balance performance, security, resilience and cost
• Build and optimise APIs, reusable libraries and database components that power real application functionality
• Write business logic and algorithms that process data accurately and at speed
• Champion quality through automated testing, CI/CD practices and secure coding principles (DevSecOps)
• Debug issues across all severity levels and support standby operations when it counts
• Share your work with the broader product team and contribute to a codebase the whole team is proud of

What we're looking for

• 3+ years’ proven experience in back-end software development, project delivery and implementation (in relevant development technologies/language). Experience with back-end frameworks and technologies
• Grade 12 National Certificate
• A relevant tertiary qualification Information Technology 
• Solid back-end engineering experience with production-grade systems
• Proficiency in C# and.NET Core
• Working knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud platforms
• Experience with PostgreSQL  writing efficient queries and optimising data modelsUnderstanding of API design and development of reusable components
• Comfort with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure coding practices
• Ability to debug complex issues under pressure  and communicate clearly while doing it
• A collaborative mindset you build for the team, not just for yourself
