The road is your office with a cold-chain logistics fleet based in Pretoria West, and the load gets there because of you. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.
You'll be based at a cold-chain logistics fleet in Pretoria West. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.
What you'll actually do
- Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
- Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
- Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
- Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
- Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
- Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
You'll need
- Medically fit, including eyesight
- Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
- At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
- Clean driving record with no serious accidents
- Clean criminal record
- Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Helpful, not essential
- Clean record on a telematics driving score
- Defensive driving course
- Dangerous goods training certificate
