You'll look after tables at a hotel restaurant in Tembisa, from the first greeting to the final bill. This role rewards consistency more than flash.
The work is in Tembisa, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.
What you'll actually do
- Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
- Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
- Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
- Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
- Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
- Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
- Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
What you need
- Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
- Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
- At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
- You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
Helpful, not essential
- Responsible Service of Alcohol training
- A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
- Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint
