ACCOUNTANT (NQ SAIPA) - R40k pm plus Benefits - Southern Suburbs, Cpt

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Management Reporting

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items.
  • Produce accurate monthly management reports within the required deadlines.
  • Manage and update the fixed asset register, including asset additions, disposals and other adjustments.

Accounts Receivable

  • Take responsibility for the complete debtors function.
  • Capture and allocate payments received from customers.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and address any discrepancies or outstanding queries.
  • Monitor debtor balances and follow up on overdue amounts to support effective collections.

Annual Audit Assistance

  • Support the preparation and coordination of the annual external audit.
  • Compile audit schedules and provide the relevant supporting documents requested by the auditors.
  • Assist in resolving audit queries to ensure the process is completed efficiently.

Taxation and Regulatory Requirements

  • Calculate, prepare and submit VAT, Income Tax and Ad Valorem tax returns.
  • Monitor statutory deadlines and ensure that all relevant tax obligations are met.
  • Contribute to tax planning activities and other tax-related finance projects.

Financial Support to Human Resources

  • Work closely with the HR team on matters requiring financial input.
  • Support leave-related administration, calculations and reconciliations.
  • Accurately calculate staff incentives and commission payments.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognised tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a closely related discipline, such as a BCom in Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
  • Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles will be beneficial.
  • At least four years relevant experience in an accounting role, ideally gained within the retail, wholesale, importing or distribution sector.
  • Practical knowledge of VAT, Income Tax and Ad Valorem tax legislation and submissions.
  • Proven experience managing debtors and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Previous exposure to NetSuite or a comparable accounting or ERP system.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • High levels of accuracy, with well-developed numerical and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work with limited supervision, manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders across different departments.
