An armed response company in Benoni, Gauteng requires a Retail Security Guard to respond to alarm activations and emergency calls. You will conduct rapid response patrols, investigate suspicious activity, and liaise with law enforcement when necessary. A valid firearm competency certificate and advanced driving skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register.
- Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity.
- Perform regular checks of security equipment including alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems to ensure functionality.
- Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review.
- Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed.
- Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity.
Requirements
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents.
- The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations.
- A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements.
- A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions.
- Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public.
