SGS South Africa is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for the YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme 2026. This opportunity is aimed at young people looking to gain workplace experience in a professional laboratory and field environment.
Successful candidates will be placed in Barberton and Randfontein and gain valuable exposure in testing, laboratory support, sampling, and operational activities.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science
- Good command of the English language
- Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID document
- Must be between 18 and 33 years old
- Must be currently unemployed
- Must not have participated in a YES Programme before
- Must have no criminal record
- Must be willing to relocate to Barberton or Randfontein
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Assist with cleaning work areas, laboratories, and workshops after tasks are completed
- Ensure compliance with SGS quality and safety procedures
- Report any irregularities, deviations, or non-conformances to supervisors
- Perform field and laboratory work, including sampling, testing, and calculations
- Support day-to-day laboratory and operational activities
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by supervisors or laboratory management
YES Programme Skills and Competencies
Candidates should have:
- Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Good research and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
