You'll cut, fit and weld steel to drawing in a busy petrochemical shutdown contractor in Sandton. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.
This post is in Sandton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.
The work, day to day
- Cut and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, plasma and a bevelling machine
- Follow the welding procedure specification for every joint you weld
- Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate
- Weld carbon steel pipe in the 6G position using GTAW root and SMAW fill
- Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
What you need
- Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
- At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying
- Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
- You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help
