Pharmaceutical Microbiologist

About the Role Our client is seeking a skilled and meticulous Pharmaceutical Microbiologist to join their quality control laboratory in Upington.
This role is essential for ensuring the microbiological safety and quality of pharmaceutical products by conducting a variety of environmental and product testing.
You will be responsible for performing microbial identification, sterility testing, and environmental monitoring to detect and prevent microbial contamination.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of microbiological techniques, sterile processing, and regulatory requirements within the pharmaceutical industry, contributing to the overall quality assurance of manufactured medicines.
Key Responsibilities Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products according to established methods and pharmacopoeial standards.
Conduct environmental monitoring of manufacturing cleanrooms, including air sampling, surface sampling, and personnel monitoring.
Perform sterility testing of sterile products and monitor growth promotion of microbiological media.
Identify and characterize microbial isolates, conducting investigations into any contamination events.
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, documenting all testing procedures, results, and deviations.
Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and relevant microbiological guidelines.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Pharmacy, or a related life science field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech microbiology laboratory.
Proficiency in various microbiological techniques, including microbial enumeration, identification, and sterility testing.
Knowledge of environmental monitoring programs and cleanroom classifications.
Familiarity with pharmaceutical GMP regulations and microbiological control strategies.
Strong attention to detail, good record-keeping skills, and the ability to work independently in Upington.
