Senior Procurement Manager / FMCG - Durban

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, commercially driven Senior Procurement Manager to join a successful and rapidly growing FMCG business .

This is a key senior management position for a hands-on procurement leader who can take ownership of the procurement function across raw materials and packaging , while driving strategic sourcing, supplier performance, cost optimisation, working capital management and team development.

The role will be split between Umhlanga and Amanzimtoti and reports directly to the Finance Director .

• Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement function across raw and packaging materials.
• Drive strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives.
• Apply strong technical packaging knowledge when evaluating materials, specifications, manufacturing processes and commercial implications.
• Work closely with R&D, Product Development, Quality, Operations, Planning, Finance and Marketing.
• Source and evaluate new packaging technologies, materials and innovations, including opportunities with international suppliers.
• Manage supplier relationships, pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities and payment terms.
• Optimise inventory, working capital and purchasing decisions within a high-SKU environment.
• Analyse purchasing and inventory data to identify opportunities to improve stock turns and reduce unnecessary inventory.
• Lead, mentor and develop a procurement team, driving accountability, capability and commercial acumen.
• Utilise ERP procurement functionality, advanced Excel and procurement systems to support effective decision-making and process improvement.

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Commerce or a related field .
• Approximately 8-10 years' relevant procurement experience , including substantial management experience.
• Strong experience in raw material and/or packaging procurement .
• Excellent technical understanding of packaging materials, specifications, manufacturing processes and technical requirements .
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills, with a proven track record of delivering cost savings.
• Advanced Excel , strong numerical ability and excellent analytical skills.
• Experience managing working capital, inventory and purchasing decisions .
• Previous experience leading, mentoring and developing a team.
• Experience within a fast-paced FMCG or manufacturing environment would be highly advantageous.
• ERP procurement experience, ideally Syspro or SAP .
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally.
