Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers and redistributors. Additional power stations and major power lines are being built to meet rising electricity demand in South Africa. Eskom will continue to focus on improving and strengthening its core business of electricity generation, transmission, trading and distribution.Job description Key Performance Areas Perform weekly/monthly substation inspections, recordings and/or taking remedial actions. Plan & execute HV Plant maintenance tasks Perform Environmental inspection and take remedial actions. Safety responsibility. Skills and Competencies Required Behavioural Integrity Honesty Trustworthiness Professionalism Leadership Coaching Mentoring Team player Developing Knowledge Specific plant knowledge and competencies to perform first line maintenance on batteries, transformers, isolators, breakers etc. Knowledge of tools and specialised equipment Knowledge of HV Plant and equipment ORHVS modules 1,2,3,4,7 Skills Driver's License code 14 Truck driving Communication skills Interpersonal skill Analytic skills Minimum requirements Qualification(s): Grade 12 / NCV4 / NSC3 / N3 and languages / qualification in the relevant function at NQF 4 with 120 Credits Related Minimum Experience: 2 Years' Electrical Plant Maintenance
