POSITION OVERVIEW
Our client, a medium-sized engineering company, is looking for an experienced CNC Machine Setter / Operator / Programmer – Turning to join their team.
The successful candidate must have strong CNC turning, programming and setting experience, with proven jobbing experience and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a production environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up, program and adjust offsets on CNC machines to perform various machining operations.
- Program, set and operate CNC turning machines using Okuma controls .
- Read and correctly interpret engineering drawings.
- Use relevant precision measuring equipment to accurately check and measure components.
- Use machine tools, jigs and fixtures when required.
- Ensure that all first-off machined components are inspected for conformance to specifications.
- Meet production targets as specified on job cards and achieve more than 85% efficiency .
- Maintain excellent productivity and minimise production downtime.
- Maintain a very low or zero scrap and rework rate.
- Report all non-conforming components to the Foreman or Inspector immediately.
- Adhere to company work standards, policies and procedures relating to quality, environmental requirements, health and safety .
- Ensure all required PPE is worn and maintain a neat and tidy uniform at all times.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and ensure the work area is clean, neat and safe.
- Maintain a good attendance and timekeeping record.
- Perform any reasonable duties or tasks as requested by management from time to time.
- Matric / Grade 12 or any NQF Level 4 qualification .
- Qualified Turner – Artisan Trade Certificate .
- CNC Programming Certification .
- Minimum 4 years' experience in CNC programming and setting .
- Proven CNC turning experience.
- Experience in a medium engineering / manufacturing environment .
- Jobbing experience is essential.
- Experience with Okuma CNC controls .
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment.
- Strong quality awareness and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
