Quality Control Technician

A testing laboratory in Bethlehem, Free State is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform analytical testing on samples from various industries. You will prepare samples, operate analytical instruments, record and interpret test results, and ensure all procedures comply with quality standards. The position requires meticulous attention to detail and methodical working practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate analytical methods for new products or tests, ensuring methods are robust and reproducible.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain complex analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-OES, and spectrophotometers.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and consumables, placing orders to ensure uninterrupted testing capability.
• Prepare and analyse samples using a range of laboratory techniques including wet chemistry, chromatography, and spectroscopy.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and culture media accurately according to standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample handling, testing, and documentation to ensure reliable results.
• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques and instruments relevant to the specific industry sector.
• Proficiency in laboratory information management systems and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• A minimum of one to three years of experience working in an analytical or testing laboratory environment.
• The ability to work methodically and prioritise tasks in a high-volume laboratory environment while maintaining quality.
• A national diploma or bachelor's degree in chemistry, microbiology, food science, biomedical science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document procedures and present findings clearly.
