The English Teacher will plan and deliver well-structured lessons that engage learners, provide regular and constructive feedback to learners on their performance and communicate regularly with parents through written reports.
This position is based in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. A safety-first, quality-driven approach underpins everything the team does. It is a busy, practical environment where no two days look quite the same. If this sounds like the right fit, we would love to hear from you.
The role follows the academic calendar and may include term-time and examination-period demands.
Responsibilities
- Fulfil administrative duties such as maintaining the class register, preparing resources, and managing classroom supplies and equipment.
- Assess learner progress through tests, assignments, projects, and oral presentations, maintaining accurate records of achievement.
- Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and sharing best practices.
- Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that engage learners, promote critical thinking, and align with curriculum learning outcomes.
- Create and maintain a positive and disciplined classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and respectful of all learners.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic or emotional support and refer them to appropriate internal or external support structures.
Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from an accredited institution.
- Excellent classroom management skills with ability to maintain discipline and create a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- A minimum of two to three years of teaching experience in the relevant phase or subject area within a similar school environment.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative and working independently when required.
- Thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks applicable to the specific grade level or subject area.
