We are recruiting a Panel Beater for a fleet maintenance company in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal. You will focus on preventative maintenance and repair of a large fleet of commercial vehicles. Responsibilities include conducting scheduled services, diagnosing mechanical issues, completing job cards accurately, and maintaining a clean and safe work bay at all times.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled vehicle servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes, and fluid level checks according to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly and work bays are free of hazards.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic scanning tools, multimeters, and manual inspection techniques.
- Perform panel beating and body repair work including dent removal, frame straightening, panel replacement, welding, and surface preparation for painting.
- Test-drive vehicles after repairs to verify that issues have been properly resolved and the vehicle performs safely under normal driving conditions.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship that meets industry safety standards.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and software to identify faults in modern vehicle electronic and engine management systems.
- A minimum of three to five years of post-trade test experience working in a workshop or dealership environment.
- A valid driver's licence, preferably Code 8 or higher, with a clean driving record to enable test-driving of customer vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, air conditioning, and electrical systems.
- A comprehensive set of personal tools appropriate to the trade, and ability to use workshop equipment such as hydraulic lifts and wheel alignment machines.
