Machines set the pace at this furniture assembly factory in Johannesburg CBD; you keep up and catch the faults. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.
Location: Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.
What you'll actually do
- Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
- Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
- Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
- Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
- Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
What you need
- Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
- Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
- Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
- No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
- Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
- Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
Helpful, not essential
- A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
- Some basic first-aid training
