We are recruiting a Pharmacist for a community pharmacy in Paarl, Western Cape. You will dispense prescriptions accurately, counsel patients on medication use, manage stock levels and expiry dates, and provide advice on minor ailments. Strong customer service skills and attention to detail are essential for patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records including medical history, treatment notes, investigation results, and discharge summaries.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot medical and laboratory equipment, reporting malfunctions to service providers promptly.
- Provide patient education and counselling regarding medications, treatment plans, rehabilitation exercises, and lifestyle modifications.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols including hand hygiene, PPE use, and instrument sterilisation.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies, consumables, and pharmaceuticals, placing orders timeously to prevent stock-outs.
- Process and analyse biological specimens, performing haematology, biochemistry, and microbiology tests to produce reliable results.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when dispensing medication, performing tests, or recording information.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to providing compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds.
- For imaging roles, proficiency in operating equipment and knowledge of radiation safety and protection principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa or South African Pharmacy Council as applicable.
- A minimum of two to three years of clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, pharmacy, or diagnostic centre.
