Assistant Manager

The OVK Group, with its head office in Ladybrand, is a progressive agricultural company in South Africa. Core purpose of the position: To support the Distribution Center Manager and through strong, visible oversight on the warehouse floor, ensure that inventory is picked, checked, packed, and shipped according to the route schedule accurately and on time. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12; an appropriate certificate or diploma in logistics, warehousing or supervision is a recommendation; At least 3 years of relevant experience in a warehouse or distribution environment, with supervisory exposure; Practical knowledge of picking, packing, loading, inventory control, and inventory survey processes; Experience with route schedules, returns, and performance control is a recommendation; Knowledge of safe warehouse practices and occupational health and safety is a recommendation; Computer proficiency and experience with inventory or warehouse systems; Valid driver's license and willingness to work shifts or extended hours where necessary; Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities; Accuracy, accountability, and the ability to perform under operational pressure; Service-oriented mindset and good cooperation with internal role players. Responsibilities: Support the DC manager in executing the operational plan and observe when necessary; Maintain visible supervision on the warehouse floor and coordinate daily work assignment; Issue approved pick lists and control the flow of picking, checking and loading activities; Ensure that loads and inventory are "picked" and ready completely, accurately and on time; Monitor that vehicles depart according to the established route schedule and cut-off times; Check that inventory is packed in the correct location, quantity, and according to safe stacking practices; Coordinate cycle counts and inventory surveys and report differences immediately; Control returns, damaged inventory, quarantine inventory, and floor administration by procedure: Enforce safety, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards and escalate operational risks.
