We are recruiting a Cashier for a busy retail outlet in Knysna, Western Cape. You will operate the point-of-sale system, handle cash and card payments accurately, process returns and exchanges, and balance the till at the end of each shift. Honesty, integrity, and attention to detail are essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.
- Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
- Open and close the store following security procedures including cashing up, locking up, and setting alarms.
- Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, handling cash, card, and digital payments with speed and precision.
- Handle customer returns and exchanges professionally, adhering to company policies while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with customers and team members.
- A minimum of one to three years of retail experience with proven customer service skills in a store environment.
- For management roles, proven experience in leading a retail team and driving sales to achieve targets.
- Proficiency in operating point-of-sale systems and basic computer literacy for stock management and reporting.
- A professional and well-presented appearance reflecting the brand image of the retail establishment.
- A Grade 12 certificate is the minimum requirement; a retail or business-related qualification is advantageous.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, particularly for cashier and stock control positions.
