Full Stack Engineer (Mid to Senior)

Our Client Goldstrom operates across the full gold value chain, from sourcing mining flows and managing refinery relationships through to trading on the London, Swiss and Hong Kong markets. We are a mine-to-market business, and the platform we are building reflects that: it needs to handle the operational complexity of the physical supply side while connecting cleanly to the financial and trading infrastructure of the major markets.

 

At the group level we build the shared platform: the source of truth for trading activity, reference data, documents and workflows, plus the integration layer that lets external systems read data and transact against it. On top of that we build a dedicated module for each client as they onboard. The platform serves our own internal operations first, but we also see real value in opening it to our wider network, giving partners and counterparties access to the same technology to run and streamline their own businesses. Each sits on the same underlying platform with its own workflows, integration shapes and UI surfaces.

 

Yalla Bullion, our precious metals distribution and fulfilment business, is the first of the group's operating companies running on the platform. Further group companies and partner deployments are planned as the business grows.

The Role

 

This is a mid to senior position for someone who wants to do more than write good code. You will own day-to-day technical delivery, manage a small team and be the main engineering point of contact across the business and its external partners. You will join early, with the foundations already in place across applications and infrastructure. The domain spans physical supply chains, refinery operations and financial markets, so prior experience in commodities, precious metals or trading is a real advantage.

 

What You'll Be Working On

 

The work splits between product-facing and internal surfaces. On the product side that means building client-facing portals, storefronts and trading interfaces on top of the group platform. On the operational side it means the internal tooling, workflows and integrations that run the business day to day. You will take features from spec to production and own the quality of what ships. As the team grows and demand increases we expect to specialise, so you will have a say in where that goes.

    • Utility-first CSS and an accessible component-primitive library
    • Data-dense UI: trading views, tables, charts, dashboards, forms with schema validation
    • E2E and component testing as a default
  • Backend
    • Node.js services in TypeScript
    • Headless commerce and headless CMS for e-commerce clients, with bespoke domain modules, event subscribers and scheduled jobs
    • Relational database with a typed ORM; document, spreadsheet and image generation pipelines (PDF, XLSX, image processing)
    • Integrations with payments, search, transactional email and auth
    • Third-party trading, inventory and pricing integrations on the client-module side
  • Team Leadership and Management
    We want someone who can take full ownership of day-to-day technical delivery so engineering leadership can stay focused at the product and strategic level.
    • Experience recruiting developers: writing briefs, running technical screens, making hiring decisions
    • Comfortable managing a small team, setting direction, unblocking people and holding quality standards without micromanaging
    • Track record of running delivery without needing a manager in the loop on every decision
    • Spots when work is going sideways early and course-corrects before it becomes a problem
    • Gives direct, useful technical feedback in code review and 1:1s
    • Keeps engineering leadership informed without needing to be chased
  • Infrastructure and CI/CD
    Infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD pipeline design and cloud configuration are handled by external partners. You will be the main internal point of contact for that relationship: able to have an informed conversation, translate between engineering needs and what the partners are building, and hold them to account on delivery. You are not expected to design or own the underlying infrastructure yourself, but you need enough fluency to operate your own services day-to-day and spot when something is not right. Experience with Azure CI/CD is preferred; familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines, deployments or resource provisioning will help you hit the ground running.

What We're Looking For

• Mid to senior level, with a track record of shipping features end-to-end in a production environment
• Strong TypeScript across both frontend and backend
• Modern React: server components, App Router, streaming, data-dense UI
• Solid backend fundamentals: relational data modelling, REST/API design, third- party integration
• Comfortable writing and reviewing SQL; experience with a typed ORM
• Experience leading or mentoring other developers, formally or informally
• Interest in finance, commodities or precious-metals trading

Location and Ways of Working

 

The business is based in the UAE. This role is remote but we need you within plus or minus five hours of UAE time (UTC+4) to work day-to-day as a team. We get together in person a few times a year.

• Clear, concise communicator in PRs, tickets and Teams chat/video calls
• Curious about the domain, the product and the code, and about why something is the way it is before changing it
• Comfortable picking up loosely-defined work, scoping it and shipping without needing the next step handed to you
• TDD encouraged; experience working in structured, test-covered codebases is a plus
