Explosives Engineer (North West)

Description

• Implement the unit operations plan by understanding key activities, projects, and performance indicators; communicating objectives to relevant stakeholders; and monitoring execution on a daily basis. 
• Report on performance by tracking unit outcomes against targets, identifying progress and areas of concern, drafting detailed reports, and submitting them quarterly or as required.
• Manage unit performance by continuously monitoring results, detecting anomalies, and executing corrective actions on a monthly basis or as operational needs arise

• Manage the implementation of unit business processes by monitoring compliance, identifying process anomalies, and executing corrective actions as required.

• Identify and address strategic challenges within customer portfolios through in-depth research, market intelligence monitoring, and industry trend analysis.
• Report key insights to the relevant line manager and propose actionable, evidence-based solutions.
• Implement approved value-adding initiatives that enhance the differentiation and competitiveness of the company’s services and products on a monthly basis or as required.
• Conduct comprehensive audits of product application and performance, evaluating all aspects of explosive and accessory products to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide technical recommendations to correct deficiencies, enhance operational efficiency, and optimize overall effectiveness.
• Support the Bussiness Manager in determining the optimal product mix to maximize product trading potential and increase market share.
• Ensure alignment of product strategy and customer solutions with industry best practices and specific customer needs.
• Implement and manage expenditure within budget by understanding cost components, approving spend in alignment with financial policies, and conducting monthly reviews.
• Monitor actual expenditure by analyzing financial reports, identifying anomalies or areas of concern, and executing timely corrective actions
• Execute the sales and marketing strategy to maximize sustainable profit and growth of the company.

• Maintain ongoing SHE compliance by reviewing current practices, identifying deviations, and correcting them within established timelines.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders by facilitating regular communication, exchanging feedback, and supporting collaboration.
• Manage service provider performance by tracking service level agreements, monitoring delivery against standards, identifying issues, and applying corrective actions when necessary.
• Contribute to the team by actively participating in team events, identifying areas where support is needed, and providing the necessary assistance.

Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
• BSc or B Eng in Mining Engineering or similar
• Driver’s license
• Advantageous qualifications: Project Management, Technical Blasting Engineering, Marketing and Sales
• 5+ years’ OC mining or explosives industry experience
• UG blasting and mining experience
