DRIVER

IZI South Africa has a vacancy for a Driver at the Port Elizabeth.

This role holds full accountability for the custody of G4S vehicles and assets during operational deployment, delivering Cash in Transit (CIT) services to a range of clients. The postholder will ensure strict compliance with all company policies, driver operating procedures, and directives at all times.

Maintain company security standards by adhering to all vehicle and equipment procedures

• Receive and sign for the vehicle and all equipment, ensuring everything is in full working order; immediately report any faults to management
• Conduct a thorough vehicle inspection before departure, checking mechanical roadworthiness and systems, and complete the daily driver checklist in accordance with the company's Mandatory Security Principles (MSP)
• Take full responsibility for all systems, technology, and equipment used within the vehicle throughout the day
• Inspect the vehicle after completing daily duties and report any defects or concerns to the Control Room and management before signing off, allowing sufficient time for rectification prior to the next scheduled use

Drive the vehicle responsibly and report details of accidents, robberies, or other incidents

• Drive responsibly, complying with all traffic regulations as outlined in the Road Traffic Act
• Adhere to all G4S Health and Safety standards, including the 'Zero Tolerance Zero Harm' policy and the 12 Golden Rules
• If safe and possible, take photographs of the accident scene by the crew member, custodian or third party
• Immediately report all incidents to the Control Room, branch, and relevant authorities
• Gather comprehensive details regarding other vehicles involved (e.g., getaway vehicle), possible injuries, and any information that may assist emergency services
• Remain inside the vehicle until management arrives and grants permission to exit
• If the driver needs to leave the vehicle at any time, prior approval must be obtained from the Control Room with the relevant Occurrence Book (OB) number recorded

Manage and control scheduled trips effectively

• Conduct standard pre-departure checks at the branch
• Ensure all operational equipment required for the trip-such as customer keys, replacement bags, CPDs, radios, and scanners-are in good working order before departure
• Report to the Controller via radio with details of crew members, route number, call sign, servicing areas, planned trip, mileage, departure time, and expected return time
• Maintain adherence to trip schedules in line with route optimisation best practises; any deviations must be immediately reported to the Control Room for approval
• Notify the Control Room immediately if the vehicle becomes or is likely to become immobilised for any reason
• Follow all company codes and precautions to protect both crew and cargo
• Report any suspicious vehicles, individuals, or activities without delay to the Control Room
• Comply fully with vehicle operating instructions
• Participate in operational security drills and maintain heightened security awareness and vigilance
• Take proactive action if any suspicious activity is observed
• Complete collection schedules and submit them to Radio Controllers by the end of each shift
• Ensure the vehicle is refuelled and ready for the next shift
• Keep the vehicle clean to uphold the company's professional image
• Ensure all communications comply with driver operating procedures

Health & Safety

• Promote and embrace a 'Safety First' culture
• Adhere strictly to all company Health and Safety procedures, extending beyond vehicle safety
• Avoid exposing yourself, the vehicle, assets, or crew to any risk
• Ensure no member of the public or customers is placed at risk
• Participate actively in branch-level safety forums
• Report all safety incidents promptly to the Control Room and obtain an OB number
• Attend safety education and refresher programmes as required
• Comply fully with all workplace safety policies and procedures
• Wear protective clothing (including bulletproof vests) at all times while performing duties, including within secure environments
• Follow all reasonable instructions issued by branch management

Competencies

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid South African ID
• Valid PSIRA Certification - Grade C and CIT
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
• Valid Code 10 Driver's Licence with no endorsements
• CIT Qualification
• Valid Firearm Competency for business purposes
• Medical fitness certificate for firearm use
