Join our I&J Trawling Division in the Waterfront, Cape Town as a MARINE QC ENGINEER and play a key role in providing effective quality control and technical oversight of mechanical servicing, repairs, and engineering projects, ensuring that all work is executed to the required standards, specifications, and procedures established by I&J Engineering Department. Reporting Structure: Reports to: Senior Superintendent Key Areas of Impact: Vessel Engineering remote monitoring and Performance Management Monitor vessel engineering systems, machinery performance, alarms, and abnormal conditions. Analyse trends and initiate corrective action to support vessel reliability, safety and efficiency. Workshop Quality Assurance and Compliance Oversee mechanical repairs and servicing to ensure compliance with OEM and quality requirements. Verify tools, procedures and workmanship meet required standards. Main Propulsion Engineering Quality Control Oversee propulsion engine repairs, servicing and projects in accordance with QCP, OEM and Class requirements. Verify critical measurements, testing and workmanship during dry dock activities. Contractor Engineering and Quality Management Provide engineering and QC oversight of contractor mechanical work at business unit. Support machinery start up and setting to work activities. Machinery Commissioning and Performance Verification Verify machinery readiness, commissioning, documentation and OEM running in requirements. Attend applicable sea trials to verify performance. Pressure Testing and Technical Compliance Witness pressure testing and verify compliance with approved criteria and testing standards. Review and sign off test documentation. Technical Documentation and Service Reporting Verify service reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance. Identify and escalate outstanding defects or additional work requirements. What It Takes to Succeed: Experience that set you up for success: Minimum 5 years working experience in a marine or mechanical repair environment Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success: Qualified Chief Engineer <2000KW Completed N6 qualification in mechanical engineering or similar Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success: OEM provided equipment training Generic experience in all mechanical machinery fitted onboard factory ships.
