Tax Compliance Officer

SUMMARY:
Our established firm based in Claremont, Cape Town is looking to employ a bright and independent Tax Compliance Officer/ Practitioner to join our team in the field of tax compliance and administration. The candidate should either have suitable practical experience in the role or a strong academic qualification/history in the field of tax.

POSITION INFO:
Desired Experience & Qualification

• BCom degree specializing in Tax. (beneficial but not a prerequisite)
• Knowledge of efiling and Easyfile are essential.
• Previous experience as a Tax Compliance Officer
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Have strong analytical ability and work well under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality of work.
• Be deadline driven and able to work independently without constant supervision.
• Have a strong desire to learn and develop in the position.
• Valid Driver's license and own reliable transport.

 
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Registration of individuals, companies, trusts for income tax, payroll tax (PAYE), value-added tax (VAT) and customs duty.
• Calculation and Completion and submission of income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and exempt institutions.
• Calculation and Completion and submission of provisional tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts.
• Attending to SARS reviews and audits on income tax returns for all taxpayer types.
• Completion and submission of objections and appeals against SARS assessments with reference to the relevant aspects of the Tax Administration Act.
• Calculation and submission of EMP201 and EMP501 returns for employers.
• Calculation and submission of VAT returns.
• Completion and submission of Tax clearance, tax directives, donations tax, dividends tax, turnover tax.
• Arrangement of payments via e-filing.
• Meeting and liaising with SARS officials/staff to resolve queries
• SARS eFiling profile requests and maintenance.
• Tax Administration - Checking on SARS correspondence daily.
• Training the tax department with regards to aspects of e-filing and general tax compliance matters.
• Assisting tax trainees with on-the-job training.
• Assisting tax trainees with competencies as required by the prescribed training program of the South African Institution of Taxation (SAIT).
• Providing assistance to the Tax Manager with regards to overall control and systems in the Tax Department.
• Prepare billings for your client base within the monthly deadlines set.
