About the Role Our client is looking for an exceptional Senior Structural Biologist to join their innovative Drug Discovery team in Randburg .
This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge structural biology techniques to elucidate the mechanisms of disease and guide the development of novel therapeutics.
You will be responsible for determining the 3D structures of key biological targets using methods like X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM, and translating these structures into actionable insights for drug design.
This is a pivotal role for a dedicated scientist aiming to contribute significantly to the pharmaceutical industry's efforts in combating disease.
Key Responsibilities Determine high-resolution structures of protein targets using X-ray crystallography and/or Cryo-EM.
Optimize protein expression, purification, and crystallization/sample preparation protocols.
Analyze and interpret structural data to understand protein function and drug-target interactions.
Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists and computational biologists to guide structure-based drug design.
Contribute to project strategy and decision-making within drug discovery programs.
Maintain and operate state-of-the‐art structural biology instrumentation.
Requirements Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in determining protein structures using X-ray crystallography and/or Cryo-EM.
Proven track record of successfully solving challenging protein structures.
Expertise in protein expression, purification, and biophysical characterization techniques.
Familiarity with structure-based drug design principles.
Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, suitable for a hybrid working model.
