About the Role Our client is seeking a highly specialized Explosives Engineer with expertise in blasting operations for their mining sites near Mahikeng .
This critical role involves the planning, execution, and supervision of all blasting activities to ensure efficient and safe rock fragmentation.
You will be responsible for designing blast patterns, managing explosives inventory, and ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and operational requirements.
This is a vital position for a qualified professional who can optimize blasting performance while maintaining the highest safety standards in a challenging mining environment.
Key Responsibilities Design and optimize blast patterns for surface and/or underground mining operations to achieve desired fragmentation and minimize dilution.
Manage the procurement, storage, handling, and usage of explosives and initiation systems.
Supervise and train blasting crews, ensuring safe and efficient execution of blasting operations.
Conduct pre- and post-blast inspections, assessing outcomes and making necessary adjustments.
Ensure compliance with all relevant explosives regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
Troubleshoot blasting-related issues and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and safety.
Maintain accurate records of all blasting activities, including quantities used and results achieved.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline, with a specialization in explosives technology.
Professional certification or extensive experience as a licensed Blasting Engineer/Foreman.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing and executing large-scale blasting operations in mining.
In-depth knowledge of various explosives types, initiation systems, and blasting software.
Strong understanding of blast physics, ground vibration, and air-blast control.
Excellent leadership, safety management, and problem-solving skills.
