You'll run the site day to day for the road and stormwater contractor in Gqeberha, from setting out to handover. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.
Home base is a road and stormwater contractor on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.
What you'll actually do
- Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
- Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
- Book NHBRC and municipal inspections at the right stages
- Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
- Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
Must-haves
- Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
- At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
- National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
- Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
- Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
Nice if you have
- Surveying skills with a total station
- Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
- SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
