We are looking for a qualified Science Teacher to teach at a well-resourced school in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will prepare lesson plans aligned with the curriculum, manage classroom discipline, mark and provide feedback on learner work, and communicate regularly with parents. This is a permanent position with competitive remuneration.
Responsibilities
- Provide regular and constructive feedback to learners on their performance, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic or emotional support and refer them to appropriate internal or external support structures.
- Communicate regularly with parents through written reports, parent-teacher meetings, and informal updates to build strong home-school partnerships.
- Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and sharing best practices.
- Create and maintain a positive and disciplined classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and respectful of all learners.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities including workshops and self-study to stay current with teaching methodologies.
Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also taking initiative and working independently when required.
- A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Education from an accredited institution.
- A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to the academic and personal development of every learner in your care.
- Registration with the South African Council for Educators and a valid SACE certificate in good standing.
- Excellent classroom management skills with ability to maintain discipline and create a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using educational technology including interactive whiteboards, learning management systems, and online teaching platforms.
