Immediate start available for a Livestock Manager at a busy farming enterprise in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. We need a team player who communicates well and takes responsibility for outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily farm operations including planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, and post-harvest handling of crops for maximum productivity.
- Manage and supervise a team of farm workers, allocating tasks, providing training on procedures, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive crop rotation plans and soil fertility programmes to maintain long-term soil health and sustainable yields.
- Operate and oversee maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, scheduling regular servicing to prevent breakdowns during critical operational periods.
- Liaise with agricultural extension officers, veterinarians, agronomists, and other specialists to access technical expertise and stay current with industry developments.
- Monitor the health and growth of crops or livestock daily, identifying signs of disease, nutrient deficiency, or pest infestation and taking corrective action.
Requirements
- A degree or diploma in agriculture, agronomy, animal science, horticulture, or a related field from a recognised agricultural college or university.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with ability to motivate and direct a diverse team of farm workers effectively.
- A valid driver's licence is essential; a heavy vehicle or tractor licence will be considered an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of crop production techniques, soil science, pest management, and modern farming practices relevant to South African conditions.
- A minimum of three to five years of practical farming experience in a commercial agricultural environment with demonstrable results.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions quickly in response to changing weather or operational conditions.
