Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and clinical services in accordance with professional scope of practice, ethical guidelines, and protocols.
- Perform diagnostic imaging examinations including X-rays, ultrasound scans, or CT scans as ordered by referring practitioners.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records including medical history, treatment notes, investigation results, and discharge summaries.
- Process and analyse biological specimens, performing haematology, biochemistry, and microbiology tests to produce reliable results.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot medical and laboratory equipment, reporting malfunctions to service providers promptly.
- Provide patient education and counselling regarding medications, treatment plans, rehabilitation exercises, and lifestyle modifications.
Requirements
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to providing compassionate care to patients from diverse backgrounds.
- A minimum of two to three years of clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, pharmacy, or diagnostic centre.
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa or South African Pharmacy Council as applicable.
- Basic computer literacy for maintaining electronic patient records, scheduling appointments, and practice management software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when dispensing medication, performing tests, or recording information.
- A recognised qualification in the relevant healthcare discipline from an accredited South African training institution.
